Peening is hammering the surface to induce a layer of residual compressive stress into metal parts. This compressive stress effectively counteracts the tensile stress to prevent the cracking of metal parts and improve the fatigue life.
Wet blasting peening is a precision surface treatment by spherical particles that combines the compressive stress and gentle & clean characteristics.
Wet blasting applied to shot peening offers several distinct benefits over traditional dry shot peening. While peening, it brings to clean degreased and clean surfaces and no thermal distortion to parts, and produces a more uniform and fine-grained texture. It is a typical process of peening for gear, spring or aerospace parts, especially for thin-wall and delicate components or materials prone to embrittlement.
